Denali Park Hotel is located in the small town of Healy, Alaska, just 10 miles north of the park entrance. The hotel is in close proximity to four restaurants, gas stations and a Three Bears grocery store. Flightseeing, golfing, hiking, rafting, ATV rides and horse-drawn covered wagon tours are all activities that are based out of Healy.
There are plenty of adventures to experience near the hotel. We strongly suggest that you have your own vehicle. There is no public transportation in the Denali area and limited taxi service. Some of our guests rent a car in Anchorage or Fairbanks. Other guests, who ride the Alaska Railroad to Denali National Park, can rent a car from “Keys to Denali”. Contact them directly at 907-683-5397 for details and cost.
Alaska doesn’t have many main roads so getting to our hotel is easy by car and the roads are well maintained. Denali Park Hotel is 10 scenic miles from the Denali Park entrance. Near the park entrance is the “Canyon area” a small area filled with gift shops, restaurants, and large hotels. One of the advantages of staying at Denali Park Hotel is that you are a 10-15 minute drive from the “canyon area” so you can shop and eat there and then come back to your room and get back to being in the real Alaska. Another advantage is the savings: on average you will save 50% a night on lodging costs by staying with us.
The biggest advantage of staying at Denali Park Hotel is the wildlife. Getting away from the congested commercial area increases your chances of seeing animals. Our grounds are quiet and peaceful and it is common to see moose strolling through the hotel area or hanging out, grazing in the field next to the rooms. Most years a cow moose and her new baby can be seen, some years she has twins! Also be on the lookout for red fox.
Denali Park Hotel has four single-level buildings, each with 12
rooms, with parking right outside your door. The rooms are clean,
comfortable and include the following:
- Full Private Bath
- 40-inch flat screen Satellite TV
- Refrigerator / Microwave
- Coffee Maker
- In room fan for the occasional warmer days. *No A/C
- Free WiFi – Can be unreliable/limited. *Please see Disclaimer on our “Home” page.
Denali Park Hotel also has three railroad cars on its premises. One of these 1943 historic World War II troop-carrying cars serves as our lobby and is a great photo opportunity.
Denali Park Hotel originally was owned by the National Park Service and at that time had some second story rooms thus the property was called a hotel. In 2001 when we purchased the hotel we acquired the name of the landmark and decided to save the name as well as the structure.
Today the hotel is all single level motel-style with parking right outside your door, so in this sense we are actually more like a motel. We invite you to come stay with us and experience all that Alaska has to offer.
